OSC continues Canada’s legacy of racism

As I write this, another highly successful and high-profile Indigenous person and proud Mohawk is not only being labelled, but in my opinion, unfairly kicked while he’s down in the media, and by the powers-that-be at the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC). Even before a shred of evidence is heard in a courtroom, David Sharpe’s life as a successful CEO on Bay Street and champion of Indigenous economic development has been destroyed. David and his former company, Bridging Finance, have been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion, the careers and lives of many disrupted by a one-sided smear campaign, even before Sharpe and the Bridging team have an opportunity to defend themselves. There have been no formal allegations or Securities Act charges in the seven months since the OSC released compelled evidence contrary to their own statute and the protections provided by the Canadians Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Kanenhariyo’s message to the International Community about Canada’s violation of Indigenous Rights

On September 27th, 2021, Kanenhariyo made a presentation at a panel discussion on the violation of Indigenous People’s Human Rights in Canada, the USA and Australia. The event was organized by the permanent diplomatic missions of the Republic of Belarus, the People’s Republic of China, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as a side event during the 48th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the situation of Indigenous peoples.

“Sovereign People on Sovereign Land”: Interview with Mississaugas of the Credit Medicine Wheel

Economic Reconciliation or Economic Retaliation?

The destruction of a multi-billion dollar Indigenous company in an ex-parte hearing without even the option to mount a defense is a trampling not only of Mr. Sharpe’s constitutionally protected rights, but also of the broader rights of all Indigenous peoples to develop their own economies and institutions free from colonial domination.

Analysis: SNGR Band Council “Cannabis Law” violates both Canadian Law and the Great Law

The level of powers the “law” gives the Cannabis Commission are unprecedented and extreme. The Commission would hold a monopoly on sales of all cannabis products in the territory. Anyone looking to sell any cannabis products in Six Nations would have to buy it from the Commission at prices “inclusive of the Commission’s wholesale margin” (which it may set at whatever price it wants).

Video: Police raid second cannabis store in Six Nations within 10 days

Derek Doolittle, the acting chairperson of the SNPCC arrived shortly after the raid occurred, and filmed a portion of the raid and posted it to his Facebook account. In the video Doolittle asks “Who’s in charge here?” A SNPD officer dressed in all black with no badge number or name tag says “I am.” When asked under whose authority he is acting, the officer simply looks down at the large “POLICE” emblazoned on his tactical vest and taps it with his fingers.
