Cease and Desist letter demands cancelation of Ontario’s non-native moose and deer hunt

A letter has been sent by the “14922000 CANADA ASSOCIATION” demanding that the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry “cease and desist” from issuing any “hunting tags or licences for deer or moose in Ontario due to the consequences of climate change in this region at this time.” The letter cites the needs for Indigenous people to rely on moose and deer for food subsistence or sustenance at a moment when wildfires caused by climate change have caused unprecedented damage to wildlife habitat.

Press Release: Likht’samisyu Clan Enforces Coastal Gaslink Eviction, Decommissions Heavy Equipment

Upon CGL’s failure to remove equipment from Likht’samisyu land, Chief Dsta’hyl seized and decommissioned a Coastal Gaslink excavator.
Following the decommissioning of the excavator, Coastal Gaslink complied with the Hereditary Chiefs’ eviction notice within the Parrot Lake area and removed all remaining heavy equipment.

Video: Wet’suwet’en Chief Dsta’hyl deactivates Coastal Gaslink Excavator; orders CGL out

On October 16th, Lihkt’samisyu Chiefs Dsta’hyl and Tsebesa took action as Coastal Gaslink workers continued to trespass on Wet’suwet’en territory in violation of Wet’suwet’en laws and Canada’s own constitution. The Chiefs instructed Coastal Gaslink to remove all equipment from Lihkts’amisyu territory immediately, indicating that otherwise it would be decommissioned and seized by the Likht’samisyu Clan in accordance with its laws.
